부킹닷컴(Booking.com) - Product manager

- I led a mobile app product team to build and improve the supply management tool which our partners(hoteliers, hosts) use to manage the inventories and rates of the rooms they sell on Booking.com. - We built a B2B product which 1.3M partners use every day to maintain/improve their business. We strive for the best partner experience by offering frictionless tools and by serving their business needs on our platform. In addition, we help partners to adjust their supply data to meet the demand from the potential guests by sharing relevant data.

- Head of Payment tribe

2015.02 ~ 2017.06

1. Head of Payment, Fintech business & systems (2017.01~2017.06)<br /> - Coupang is the largest e-commerce company in South Korea(5th biggest market in the world) which was listed on NASDAQ in 2021 with a valuation over $100B. <br /> - I led a new product team to build Coupang's proprietary payment service RocketPay(currently renamed to CouPay) from scratch. After the successful launch & steep growth of RocketPay, I was promoted to a senior manager(principal product owner) to lead the payment organization. My main objectives were (1) to increase the overall payment conversion rate, (2) to lower the payment fee(cost) paying out to 3rd parties and (3) to keep the zero down-time of the payment system​.<br /> - As a head of the Payment tribe, I led 20+ people(with 5 direct reports) org with 3 teams - a development team to maintain the whole payment system of Coupang, an infrastructure team which supports the infra/security of the payment system and an operation team which manages the business operation/partnership with 3rd parties including payment gateway companies.<br /> <br /> 2. Senior Product Owner, Fintech business & systems (2015.02~2016.12)<br /> - Product development : I led the development of the new payment system(RocketPay) from scratch- from designing prototypes, validating hypotheses through early tests, managing development teams and stakeholders (customer service, finance, accounting, legal, compliance, PR and marketing departments) across the company. RocketPay was launched on desktop web, mobile apps(iOS, Android) and mobile web platforms.<br /> - Impact : RocketPay brought a 30% increase in payment conversion rate. (also resulted in having +20% lift in customer spending and a cost reduction in payment fees) We have removed friction from the payment process by allowing customers to just use 6 digits of PIN code, even just with their fingerprints. We transformed the payment process of all major payment options in South Korea - bank transfer, credit cards and mobile carrier payment.<br /> - Growth and Retention : We grew to over 2M customers in 1.5 year. It even grew to more than 10M users in 2019. In addition, we tracked the retention rate of monthly/weekly cohorts and ran several initiatives to retain users. We looked into unit economics and ran promotions which brought positive ROI.<br /> - Besides Payment, I also led an initiative to remove friction from the refund process by implementing a balance service(like Paypal balance) and integrated it with the cancellation/refund process.

- Regional Product Manager

2007.02 ~ 2015.02

1. Regional Product Manager, Regional Product Marketing team (2013.03~2015.02) - I was in charge of managing the product portfolio of Latin American market where total sales reached USD $10B/year. I was mainly responsible for : (1) Product portfolio management : aligning and collaborating with local sales offices to build stronger product portfolio to outperform the competitions. (2) Product life cycle management : managing the development, production, shipment, sales and termination of all smartphone, tablet and wearable product lineup in Latin American region. (3) Market analysis : analyzing the market based on internal sales(sell-out, sell-in) and external market share data. - I contributed in offering competitive product lineups in periodic purchasing processes of buyers, mainly major mobile carriers/retailers in the region, by participating in the product offering process from product selection/positioning to delivering presentations to the executives. 2. Product Manager, Product Strategy team (2010.09~2013.02) - I was an enabler managing projects across different business units, departments and 3rd party companies focusing on the technical integration, global distribution and marketing of internal/external mobile services of the new smartphones/tablets. (Galaxy S, Note, Tab series) 3. S/W Engineer, S/W Platform team (2007.02~2010.08) - I was a software developer in the S/W development team in Samsung Mobile HQ. I developed several S/W features of the main mobile platform. In addition, I set up the work process between the new development office in India and the HQ in S.Korea.
