Gavin Wood, Ethereum co-founder, claims that Web 3.0 will be a new principle for the future. He diagnoses today’s Web 2.0 as inherently broken. Because within its design there is centralization, the notion that user's rights should be delegated to the authority. He takes expample of online payment, where users themselves cannot pay for the goods and services. They have to get permission of transaction from financial institutions and platform owners.
Wood says users cannot retreat their rights under Web 2.0 and authorities like governments and major web platforms want to defend the current system. However it’s tenable to social and economical changes. He sees the future where Web 3.0 emerges as a new norm of internet and Web 2.0 is neglected from the market.
